Kia ora koutou and welcome to Riders’ Rest Ruakākā, Northland, Aotearoa NZ.

Our story behind setting up Riders’ Rest Ruakākā begins with our passion for travelling, especially 2up on a motorcycle together. After our first ride 2up in France in 2019, where we were continually looking for places to stay that met our needs of travelling lightly and security of bikes, we returned home and designed our house to provide tailored accommodation for Motorcyclists on an Adventure!

We have been so fortunate to travel by motorcycle extensively around Aotearoa NZ and Europe and in 2023 we rode through 7 European countries with a great bunch of fellow riding friends. Following that tour, we were asked by the tour company to be their agents in Aotearoa NZ and Australia. So with that in mind, we are off in June 2024, along with a group of 12 (many from the last trip) this time to explore the Pyrenees and Picos de Europa in Spain.

We currently offer a variety of accommodation options here in Ruakākā - ‘The Lodge’, ‘The Studio’, ‘The Nest’ and ‘The Cabin’ all designed to provide privacy and to capture the extensive views of Bream Bay and the entrance into the harbour. Whether you are a solo rider, riding 2up or with a group, contact us. Of course we make our accommodation available for non riders.

We feel it’s a must to stay for at least two days, as there is nothing better than not worrying about where you are going to stay each night when travelling and with Ruakākā located in the hub of the north, it provides an opportunity of numerous day rides to enjoy. If you are adventurous and wish to ride to the very top - Cape Reinga - we recommend that you have a stop over closer to the top so that you can fully enjoy the amazing history and scenery.

While staying at RR, we pride ourselves on being able to enhance your adventure by helping plan your rides or trips whether you are seeking the thrill of gravel roads, wishing to keep to the seal or to experience a bit of both.  We can even ride with you to show off our favourite local roads.  

When you book, enquire about the option of booking Riders’ Rest Ruakākā for 3 nights but only paying for two nights - then you can do an overnight trip north and leave your luggage with us.
